At the following links you can find young people from other countries you can exchange e-mail messages with.
A few tips before you start exchanging e-mail messages:
Always be polite to the people you wish to become friends with. |
|
Do not tell your e-pal everything about you from the start. Leave something for later. They must be looking forward to learning more about you. |
|
Try to write carefully, editing and rephrasing your messages to the best of your ability, before sending them. Use the spell checker facility of your e-mail program following the corrections carefully, always trying to understand the correction. That's how you are going to avoid the same mistakes. |
|
If you are writing to people of other cultures, try to understand what they consider good or bad manners in people's relations and try to avoid writing something that might hurt their feelings or insult them. |
|
If you wish to send a picture of yourself, do so, but not from the start. You can let your friend know that you are going to send a picture later on, so that they may be looking forward to something from you. But do not take a long time; they will be disappointed and they may stop e-mailing messages. |
|
If you have any difficulty with your e-mails before consulting your teacher at school or via e-mail try to use the dictionary links provided. If you still have a problem and you are at home, please contact your teacher via e-mail. |

LINKS FOR E-PALS
It is a programme in which you will meet up with a native speaker to study together, practise speaking and generally discuss language problems that may bother you.
"eTandem Europa" is a project funded by the European Commission as part of the European Year of Languages 2001. eTandem Europa's objective is to introduce as many European citizens as possible to the opportunity of learning a foreign language with eTandem and to make it easy for these language learners to get started.
An exciting way to improve your language skills is to pair up with an email tandem partner and help each other with your language learning. Just like a traditional pen-pal (only much quicker!), email tandem partnerships can complement face-to-face learning, by developing reading and writing skills.
