This is the
Windmill which was built only recently, as the area bears the name "Anemomylos",
which means "windmill". You can see the south of the island in the
distance.
A view of hte
Town of Corfu from in front of the Windmill. Mount Pantokrator (="The
Allmightly") in the distance. There is the monastery of Pantokrator on
the peak on the right.
A view of the
Anemomylos area with its boats and the Old Fortress in the distance.
The light beacon
on the left right opposite the windmill. In the distance the
snowcapped mountains of Albania. The area near the marina is used for
the mooring of amateur fishermen boats as is the moat in front of the
Old Fortress.
Another view of
the windmill, right at the beginning of the marina with the light
beacon. On the right there is a nice but also expensive restaurant.
The area is used by the neighbours as a swimming area. Beyond the
right edge of the picture is the area of Mon Repose, hence the name of
the nearby hotel.
And another view
of the town and Corfu Palace Hotel from the area of Anemomylos.
Another view of
the area on a semi-overcast day.
Ánemomylos as
seen from Garitsa Bay.
The rocks on the
right of the windmill and a view of the Old Fortress and the mountains
of Albania on the same semi-overcast day. It was raining, so we also
had the rainbow in the picture.
The top of the
rainbow...
...and its right
end.
The coffee bar Nautilus in the Anemomylos
area. People like sitting there on fine days in autumn and winter
enjoying their ouzo and delicacies and a nice view of the town, the
Old Fortress and the coasts of Albania.
Leaving the
Anemomylos area for Garitsa, the bay which is seen in the middle of
the picture.
